This is just a short entry to say that The Cupcake Box has relocated to Birmingham.

However, I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone that supported me with the The Cupcake Box whilst we were based in Manchester.
I may have to pop up with some goodies for you at some point, soon :)

Looking to the future...
We still have our Facebook account, and our website, although please note the change in weblinks for these.
But you will now also be able to order our cupcakes and other sweet treats through The Streetly Florist, 317B Chester Road, Walsall, WS9 0PH (near the Hardwick Arms). So why not pop in?!

Thanks so much for all the support
Chantel

I recently saw this picture of bride-to-be Emma Roberts, in the Daily Mail, struggling to get to Manchester Registry Office without getting her dress and shoes dirty, or get her hair wet.
With a wedding in June she must have been expecting lovely sunshine. However it would appear that the Great British Summer can promise only one thing - rain!
But don't panic!  We have a couple of suggestions that will help "save the day".

Firstly get yourself a pair of wellies.
No, we are not talking muddy green farmers wellies here! Check these out...

And let's not forget the umbrella!

Love Umbrellas has a stunning range of bridal umbrellas.
"Sharing one umbrella
We have to hold each other
Round the waist to keep together.
You ask me why I'm smiling –
it's because I'm thinking
I want it to rain forever."

If I were to ask you "Would you consider wearing your Mother's wedding dress for your own wedding?" your instant answer, more than likely, would be "Never!".  Am I right?

Well, let's just take a moment to think about that.

There are a couple of reasons it would actually make a lot of sense to.  Firstly it would be very cost effective, your Mother's wedding dress will of course already have been bought and paid for and secondly it would take a lot of pressure away from you in finding the perfect dress.

Practical reasons aside, how wonderful to think that by passing down a wedding dress generations of brides will be married in the same dress, building a family tradition.

Guest blog by Annabelle from Brides and Bows

Everyone loves a wedding; from the excited Mother of the Bride to each and every well-preened guest they all have one thing in common: to have a fabulous time sending you off into married life (and to bust out some classic moves on the dance-floor once the bubbly kicks in!).

Big Days can take months, even years, to plan and the sense of expectation and excitement is massive for wedding party and guests alike. But whilst it is ok to shed a tear at the speeches, shedding a tear at the cost of the event is not ideal. It can be easy to miss small print or overspend because those shoes/place names/favours (delete as appropriate) are surely essential to creating the perfect day!

And soon, before you know it you have overspent, your groom is nagging about the waste, your dad (if paying) is blowing a gasket and all those little special details you dreamed of are put on the ‘do it on the cheap’ list or excluded all together.

"That is when you need the wedding specialists to step in and wave that magic wand!"

"Brides & Bows, wedding planning and decoration, was launched in 2010 to offer affordable decorative hire solutions to couples across Cheshire and Manchester."

After our friends experienced problems with cheap suppliers and purchasing chair covers online to save a penny or two, we looked at what we could do to help using our extensive knowledge of event planning. And our quality, fair priced hire company was born!

We never have any hidden charges in the small print; that means no VAT, no delivery charges, no collection charges and no set-up fees (unless clearly stated and clearly included in the quote). We only supply quality products and always at a fair price, usually less than the venue can provide in most cases!

And if you receive a quote from us that you are unable to accept due to budget constraints we will always, happily, spend time with you working on and suggesting alternative options that will fit into your budget to create the day you have been dreaming of. As a small supplier this is something we do because we can, and because we care about every wedding we get involved in.

"Our promise is to treat your wedding with same care we'd give our own."

And it is essential to remember - just because something looks cheap it won’t always turn out to be the bargain you were hoping for!

**DID YOU KNOW?**
An estimated 60% of parents choose to know the sex of their babies before they are born.

Expecting a new baby is an exciting time and if you decide to find out the sex of your baby at your 20 week scan, don't announce it to family and friends over the phone or mention it in passing! Have a celebration... Have a Gender Reveal Party!

What is a Gender Reveal Party?
Well, "it does exactly what it says on the tin".  It is a celebration where the gender of the expected baby is revealed, usually when the guests bite into their cupcakes or a bigger cake is sliced to reveal pink sponge for a girl or blue sponge for a boy.

Typically, the parents will find out at exactly the same time as everyone else in the room, having asked their sonographer to seal the news in an envelope, which they will then hand straight to the baker who can get to work on a gender-reveal cake.

Unlike a traditional baby shower the whole family can be involved, husbands/partners especially.  Male guests are allowed, not like a baby shower where the general rule is that only the wives are invited.

**RANDOM FACT**
In medieval times, men were encouraged to tie up one testicle to produce the first child and the other to attempt to produce a second in order to ensure they fathered one of each sex.

So, here The Cupcake Box has got together with some other fabulous suppliers to offer inspiration, creating the perfect Gender Reveal Party.

The whole of the United Kingdom, and the Commonwealth, has been gripped by the Diamond Jubilee celebrations these last few days.

We really have enjoyed a much needed revival of community spirit and togetherness whilst showing our collective appreciation of our Queen and our Monarchy.

It truly has been a historic weekend, and one that perhaps our children will not quite be able to fully appreciate until they are a little older.  This does not stop them from being in awe of it all however.

If your children are anything like my daughter they will have been totally overwhelmed by the royal procession and the Queen's balcony appearance, cementing her desire to have a princess themed birthday party.  But times are hard and I am sure that many of us are without question lacking the same budget seen for the Jubilee celebrations.  Not wanting to disappoint I’d say that’s “challenge accepted”!

Here The Cupcake Box (and friends) show you how to throw a party fit for a princess...
Special thanks to Life's A Celebration

“Party bags are my most hated thing on Earth!"  This seems to be the general opinion among Mum’s and Dad’s alike.

But don't worry, The Cupcake Box is on hand to provide you with few tasty (and hassle free!) alternatives that the children will just love.

It was great to see so many people come together for the Ashton-on-Mersey Village Jubilee Party on Saturday 2 June 2012.
