The perfect way to design a Wedding Cake Display unique to you is with a pre-booked wedding consultation.

Before your consultation it is a good idea to undertake some research and collect ideas of what you like (or dislike!).

If you have any pictures, materials or colour swatches please do bring these with you.  If you like you can email them to us in advance so that we can start preparing some ideas for review during the consulation*.

If you are unable to arrange a personal consultation, we will be happy to discuss your requirements over the phone or via email.

Here are some key things to think about:
  • What is the date of your wedding?
  • What sort of wedding are you having? Traditional, contempory or folowing a specific theme?
  • What is your colour theme?
  • How many people do you require the cupcakes to serve?  Don't forget to think about whether they will be served as a dessert or perhaps as finger food in the evening?
  • What flavours do you like (or dislike!)?
  • Decorations: fresh flowers, sugar flowers, novelty figures etc?
  • Will you require set up and delivery?
  • Will you require a cake stand?  It is important to check with the venue whether they are able to supply a stand, as not all do.
  • Do you have a budget in mind?  Have a clear idea as to what your budget might be and whether there is any degree of flexibility, if not don't worry as it is often possible to discuss ways of making your cake display cheaper without loosing the "wow factor".
Cake samples will be available to taste at the consultation.

As some of you may know The Cupcake Box entered Ice the Cake's Cake Industry Newcomer Award for 2012.

Unfortunately we missed out on this one, it was a tough competition and the winner was very deserving. But what an achievement to have made the final 5!

Thank you so much to everyone that voted, your support is greatly appreciated.

Natural Beauty is a salon situated in the heart of Ashton on Mersey Village, Sale, where they offer a wide range of treatments (anything from Nails to Teeth Whitening) and you are sure to be greeted with a smile every time.  It has been my salon of choice since my family moved to Sale nearly three years ago, even my six year old now enjoys an appointment at the "Nail Shop" for a child's file and polish.  I really wouldn't go anywhere else!  So when they asked us at The Cupcake Box to make some celebratory cupcakes for their 6th Birthday I just couldn't say no.

Happy Birthday Natural Beauty and Well Done to all the "Beauties" Vickie, Bex, Caz and Helen!!

Why not pop over to their website and take a look at their list of treatments or tweet them congratulations.

The Christmas decorations had not even made it back into the loft this year before signs of Easter were dominating the supermarket shelves.  I will not lie, I welcome cheap chocolate,it is a weakness.  Although I think many of us will agree that there is nothing special about a mass produced, over packaged chocolate egg!  Especially if it going to be given as a gift.

With this in mind I came up with an "eggsellent" idea.  Sorry, terrible joke...moving on...

Introducing our mini bite-size egg boxes, especially for Easter.  A unique gift that is sure to get a smile!

We have the boxes available in yellow, pink, blue or green, with matching chicks.

Of course, we have teamed up with Buttercups (Cupcake Wrappers) again to bring you some very cute cupcake creations.  So why not pop over to our Facebook page, by clicking HERE to see some of our Easter treats!

On Saturday 10 March 2012 I was lucky enough to attend the Boot Out Breast Cancer "Back to the 80s" Charity Ball at The Point, Lancashire Cricket Ground, Old Trafford, Manchester. Heaven 17 and Go West provided the entertainment and the official DJ for the night was BBC Radio 1's Nihal

It was a fantastic night; the wonderful Debbie Dowie and Co. did an amazing job!!

A huge amount of money was raised, I believe to be in excess of £50,000, to purchase some much needed equipment for the Breakthrough Research Centre (next to Christies), but we can't stop there!

Please do take some time out to have at look at their website and the important work they do. Remember that any donation, big or small, will be much appreciated and will make a real difference!! http://www.bootoutbreastcancer.org.uk/

Aside from the bride herself, the wedding cake is undoubtedly the focal point of the wedding reception.  Apparently the wedding cake is the second most photographed subject at any wedding, no surprises what the first is!  It is no wonder then that with all the different options available you may feel slightly overwhelmed.  Don’t panic, here we have a few tips!

A fantastic website to pick up on the latest wedding trends etc would be www.icethecake.co.uk "Every ingredient for your wedding".  Working with only professional, credible and reliable suppliers they offer ideas and inspiration for every aspect of your wedding.  The Cupcake Box is a member of Ice the Cake, so you can be sure that we will make your special day memorable.

Bridal magazines (such as Wedding Ideas,  published every four weeks) are also another good source for ideas, or perhaps you already have a theme in mind?  A good wedding cake designer will ask for as much detail about your wedding as possible, such as the flowers you will be having, the style of your dress, etc.  This will ultimately help the designer to advice you on the best selection and execute every detail of your chosen theme.

If you want to continue the theme to the reception tables then a relatively inexpensive way of doing so is to choose coordinating items, such as wine glass decorations etc to match your cupcake wrappers.  To do this we can work with Buttercups, a small business based in Bury supplying handcrafted bespoke cupcake wrappers and matching items from their wedding collection.

So if you are getting married and would to find out how The Cupcake Box and our "Trusted Partners" can help you then do get in touch by visiting our main site www.the-cupcake-box.com or visit our Facebook page by clicking HERE.

In the mean time, happy planning!

Cupcakes are an excellent way to promote a business, club or association.  They are great for staff meetings, customer events, product launches and even staff parties.

We handcraft all of our cupcakes specific to your order so are able to incorporate your company colours or logo.  We can do this by using Sugar-craft, edible printed logos, personalised cupcake flags or wrappers to name but a few.

Please find some examples below.

So whether you want a novel way of introducing clients to your business or want to thank your existing clients and employees get in touch with The Cupcake Box to see how we can help.

Sue Ryder Care is a national charity providing health and social care services in local communities.

They will be holding a charity bake sale at their shop in Ashton-on-Mersey village (Green Lane, Sale, M33 5PN) on Saturday 11 February 2012.  The Cupcake Box has, along with others, donated some cupcakes to be sold in a effort to raise further funds for the charity.

Why not show your support and pop along!

The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games are fast approaching.  It brings the promise of more than just the staging of a sporting event, but also to bring the country together and reignite our community spirit.  As a family member is part of the GB Paracycling Team and a London 2012 hopeful it is a huge focus for our family and an adventure to be enjoyed.

One ‘pit stop’ that I was looking forward to along the way was the British Sugarcraft Guild (BSCG) 7th International Sugarcraft Exhibition to be held in May 2012.  The theme too many was obvious...the Olympics!  However, many of you avid bakers may already be aware of the ban imposed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) which prevents us from copying any of the official symbols, including the iconic five rings, due to copyright law.

So my question is simple, is it Copy ‘right or wrong’???

On one hand I understand that the use of the official logos and symbols is a privilege that is reserved for sponsors.  On the other, the undeniable fact that during any national event that is being celebrated themed cakes/cupcakes are very popular.

To name one such recent event The Royal Wedding back in April 2011.  How many people had cakes/cupcakes adorned with pictures of the happy couple?!  Many of these pictures used were done so without seeking ‘permission’.  However, I am sure that the sales of official merchandise were not too severely affected.

It is not surprising then that this crack-down by the IOC has shocked many and left a bitter taste within an industry who work primarily with the sweet.  So it is with regret that I must decline any request for specific London 2012 themed orders (i.e with the London 2012 logo, Olympic rings etc)... but I shall not refrain from celebrating and creating such cupcakes for my own family.

Well what better time to start a blog than now, when The Cupcake Box has just been approved as a 'Credible and Incredible Wedding Supplier' as listed on Ice the Cake.  January 2012 has proven to be a good start to the year.  The main website has been cleaned up, matching business cards have been ordered and there are quite a few large orders already in the diary.

For one such order I was given a colour scheme to work to, peach and cream.  I personally feel that this is such a lovely combination for a wedding, light and fresh.  Well, I challenge you all to look for a supplier who sells peach cupcake cases.  It is impossible!

However, one evening whilst I was frantically searching on the internet for these peach cupcake cases, as I did not want to let the bride-to-be down, I came across a wonderful home-based business called Buttercups based in Bury, who specialise in making cupcake wrappers that are both handcrafted and bespoke.  As it happens another design option was decided for this particular bride-to-be but I am so glad that I found Buttercups!  I look forward to working with both them and their products in the near future, watch this space.

So on that note perhaps the title this blog entry would be better stated as "The future is wrappers, the future is cupcake wrappers!"

*Warning, my cheesy sense of humour may rub off on you if you come back and read this blog often enough.
